About us

Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Trust is made up of two of London’s oldest and most well known teaching hospitals. The hospitals have a long history, dating back almost 900 years, and have been at the forefront of medical innovation and progress since they were founded.

Both hospitals have built on these traditions and continue to have a reputation for excellence and innovation. In 2004 (for the second year running), we have been awarded a maximum three stars in the Government’s performance ratings.

As well as providing a full range of hospital services for our local communities in Lambeth and Southwark, the Trust provides specialist services for patients from further afield. As major teaching hospitals, Guy’s and St Thomas’ work closely with our major academic partner, King’s College London.

The Trust has many exciting plans for the future. Last year we opened a new Women’s and Neonatal Centre at St Thomas’, and work is currently underway on the new Evelina Children’s Hospital that will open in early 2005.

The Trust is one of the largest employers locally, with over 8,000 staff, and is working hard to reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the communities we serve. Our success depends on the commitment and dedication of our staff, many of whom are world leaders in the fields of health care, teaching and research. We continue to work hard to recruit and retain the best staff, on whom the smooth running of our services depends.
